John Poole letter, 1932 Jan. 18.

Letter from John Poole, as president of the Federal-American National Bank and Trust Company, to Leonard W. DeGast, General Secretary of the Young Men's Christian Association, noting that he does not want to cause the YMCA embarassment but acknowledges the efforts of its Finance Committee in securing funds to payoff longtime bank loans. A copy of DeGast's letter of 15 Jan. 1932, in which he set forth various fundraising options under discussion by the Finance Committee, is attached. The YMCA, then located at 1736 G Street NW in Washington, D.C., hoped to sell properties it owned at 1724 and 1728 G Street NW in order to pay off the loans.
